History of Stanley Street Cottages
A German migrant Frederick Spanhake, a policeman, bought the allotments in 1848 for £30 and built a six-room house, bakehouse and stables.
In 1855 the property passed to a baker and fellow countryman, Heinrich Kollmorgen.
